What Should be in Every Cot in Every Nursery

child sleeping with teddy
It is simple common sense, a baby spends a great deal of time sleeping or playing in their cot, and baby's nappies can very easily leak, baby can be sick, baby can dribble and even perspire.

How can mum stop all these nasties from reaching the mattress? If these fluids do reach the mattress then ask yourself how it can be cleaned safely and easily? The mattress could be water resistant or even waterproof but it still has to be cleaned if it gets dirty and you can't just put the mattress in a washing machine.

If Mum was cleaning it with a cloth then she certainly would not want to use any chemical cleaners on it, and with just hot soapy water how would she be sure that the mattress was really clean? How long would it take to dry out? and would it smell afterwards?

All these issues can be easily resolved with one of our mattress protectors. The aqusolari pad is simply used under the bottom sheet of mums choice and when it becomes wet or dirty just whip it off and put it in the washing machine then tumble or line dry and put it back. Even better fit two to the cot, and when baby wakes up at night with a wet nappy, change baby and remove the top protector leaving another clean dry one underneath for the rest of the night. A mum is busy enough already without struggling trying to keep her cot mattress clean and safe.

A further product we have are BSensible mattress protectors, a bonus is that these Mattress Protectors are dust mite proof. Mattresses can very quickly become infested with dust mites, even in the cleanest of homes. Dust mites feed on skin particles that have been broken down by bacteria. This bacteria requires moisture to survive. The construction of the Mattress Protector means that moisture cannot soak in to the mattress and that there is a physical barrier between any dust mites and their waste products stopping them from reaching a sleeping baby.

Babies tend to sleep with their nose and mouth close to the mattress surface and dust mites are known to be responsible for the onset of asthma and allergies in some young children, so this is another great reason to choose a mattress protector. The UK has an estimated 3.5 million children under the age of 4, they all have to sleep somewhere and that somewhere needs protection.

We also have some rather specialised types of covers for our mattresses, such as XStatic and Amicor.
